All TJHS Alumni and Friends are Invited to the TJHSAA Distinguished Alumni and Patriot Awards Ceremony and Reception to be held Friday, May 11 at 3:00 pm, Thomas Jefferson High School Auditorium – honoring Distinguished Alumni Steve Schlossstein ’59, Nina Cortell ’70, Zachary Thompson ’77, and Patriot Award winner Eric Stromberg ’60. Please contact Martha Wilson (marthamwilson@hotmail.com, 972-239-4466) for more information. Liberty Belle Uniform Drive

The Alumni Association is soliciting funds to replace the 20 year old uniforms for TJ’s award winning Drill Team. Our goal of $9,000 is obtainable with your help. Please send a check to TJHSAA,  6750 Bradbury Lane, Dallas, TX 75230 or donate by credit card at our Web Payment Page

Exciting things are happening with our alumni association and with the students and staff at Thomas Jefferson. Please take a moment to update your awareness of today’s TJ and consider supporting the alumni association with membership renewal, scholarship fund or school activity contribution and updated directory information.

-TJ’s Academy of Hospitality and Tourism is developing relationships with local hotels and restaurants to offer students intern experiences and event catering for School and alumni activities. For further information about TJ Community Events and referrals for sponsorships, please contact Sheila Benskin sheila.benskin@dallasdisd.org

- The Academy of Asian Culture which involves over 400 students, is teaching Mandarin Chinese, and hosted a delegation of high school students and principals in March from TJ’s sister school in Hainan Province and will be planning for students to travel to China next summer.

-The Academy of Finance is developing programs and mentorships to interact with the Dallas Business Community – please advise of your interest in serving in the development of these relationships.

-TJ is developing plans for an Alumni Way paved with commemorative bricks and other connections with the 50 year history of 25,000 Alumni and the idea that the past is prologue to the future.

What’s Happening with the TJ Alumni Association:

The alumni website is identifying contact persons and reunion information and website links for all classes. Please reply if you can recommend or are willing to be a contact person for your class – Kevin McNevins,’63 kevin@mcnevins.net is responsible for website updates and links.

BECOME AN INVOLVED ALUM – Contact me, Paul Roach ’65 proach@cpyi.com and volunteer today to be a mentor to a TJ student, share your expertise or life experience with a class, serve on the Academy of Finance and Business Advisory Board, serve on an alumni committee, help with an event, or become a member of the TJHSAA Board.
