Activities, Awards and Events
STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED:
- Richard Stroud Scholarship – awarded annually 2007 – 2011
- TJHSAA Scholarship – awarded annually 2007-2011
- Jack Cannon Scholarship, funded by Brian Cree, TJ’76 – awarded annually 2007-2011.
ALUMNI AWARDS PRESENTED:
- Distinguished Alumni – awarded annually 2009 – 2011. Currently 9 honorees.
- Distinguished Service Award – awarded annually 2009 – 2011. Currently 3 honorees.
- Patriot Award – awarded 2009, 2010. Currently 2 honorees.
- Athletic Hall of Fame – Classes in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010. Currently 15 honorees.
ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS:
- Organized, funded and hosted Thomas Jefferson High School’s 50th Anniversary
- Celebration – invitations, program, ceremony, reception, speakers, etc.
- Donated and planted landscaping (trees, shrubs, plants) in front of school in honor of 50th anniversary.
- Hosted two all-alumni casual dinners, 2006 -2007
- Hosted Annual TJHSAA All-Alumni Golf Tournament, 2007-2011.
- Funded new, improved Seay Weight Room, 2008.
- Sponsored “Leadership TJ” – a program for TJ student leaders –active before the re-organization of the TJ Student Council.
- Developed TJHSAA website (www.tjdallasalum.org) to help promote communication and activities for all alumni.
- Sponsored 50-year anniversary celebration of TJ’s Drill Team, 2007.
- Honored 1962 TJ State Champions Basketball Team, 2011.
